I’m sure by now you’ve heard of Drunk Elephant and all of the amazing things people have said about the brand and how it’s transformed their skin. Well, I had to jump on the train and try them out for myself! I’ve struggled with skin issues since the start of college (7 years ago.. gasp!). I find that I have textured, dry skin with acne scars. I don’t deal with wrinkles or anything yet (knock on wood), but I also don’t mind in the least using anti-aging products.
I decided to buy “The Littles” and test those out first because if we’re all being real here… Drunk Elephant isn’t the most budget friendly skincare line on the market! This gives you a majority of the products they sell in travel sizes. So, it’s perfect for anyone not ready to fully commit just yet. I also purchased the D-Bronzi Serum, which is advertised as an anti-pollution serum that also gives a bronzy glow.
So, I purchased the “littles” and have been using it for exactly 3 weeks now. I’ll briefly explain each product and review my favorites and why. You can read more about each product on the Drunk Elephant Website.
C-Firma Day Serum– A Vitamin C serum that helps with uneven skin tone, sun damage, wrinkles, and can brighten skin tone. I wasn’t a fan of the smell (but it’s really not a big deal- just wanted to note in case you’re sensitive to that). This has a lot of benefits to it so I am sure the hefty price tag is worth it! Personally, I don’t know if I struggle with sun damage or dark spots enough to continue buying this.
Shaba Complex Eye Serum – Speaks for itself! An eye serum that helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the eye area. This went on really smooth and I also liked the fact that the instructions tells you to apply this all the way around the eye area. A lot of people (like myself) neglect the eyelid when applying eye serum/cream.
Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense – I wasn’t a huge fan of this, but it was my first facial sunscreen so I have nothing to compare it to! It just felt heavy, but it was just doing its job. I typically just wear Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer which comes with SPF in it. Apparently the SPF in tinted moisturizers isn’t enough to protect our skin so we are supposed to wear something underneath foundation, etc. I felt this had a strong white cast which means you can’t wear this on its own. I would mix it with my D-Bronzi Serum.
Beste #9 Jelly Cleanser – A gentle cleanser that rids of makeup, pollution, and excess oil. My favorite part about this cleanser is that is doesn’t strip skin of its natural oils. It isn’t harsh like a lot of cleansers can be especially when trying to cleanse face of makeup. The only downside was that this wasn’t harsh enough to completely cleanse my makeup first rinse, so I usually would clean my makeup off with this cleanser balm first.
T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum – Smooths and evens out completion, brightens skin. To me, if you were going to buy just one product this would be the catch all. This is to be applied at night and has a tingling sensation once applied. This product has a numerous amount of benefits and is said to mix well with the Virgin Marula Oil. My skin is definitely less textured and bumpy now and I’m honestly not sure which product should receive credit but I am thinking it’s this one!
Virgin Marula Oil – This is loaded with antioxidants for the skin to nourish and moisturize. This product has so many raving reviews. I can see why as it’s ridiculously moisturizing. I am obsessed with this product but not on its own. I like it mixed with my D-Bronzi Serum during the day and the TLC Serum at night. I also found this extra moisturizing for the back of my hands!!
Lala Retro Whipped Cream – I wasn’t a big fan of this moisturizer and I couldn’t figure out why! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, I just felt like it made my face greasy. I just feel like I didn’t really benefit from using it. I also have been getting a TON of blackheads since using Drunk Elephant (exclusively too!), and I think this or the Umbra SPF may be the culprit?? I have heard glorious things about the Protini Cream so I can’t wait to try that next!
D-Bronzi – I was so excited to use this because it offers color with not a lot of coverage (in a good way!). I don’t always feel like wearing foundation or tinted moisturizer so this felt like the perfect in between. This definitely may be too dark for someone with a fair skin tone. I have naturally olive skin and almost felt this was too dark for me. The key is mixing it with something as instructed on the bottle. I mixed it with one of the serums and the Umbra SPF. I’m going to rate this 5/5 because there seems to be nothing like this product on the market. It gives a nice glow and has no harmful ingredients in it. If anything, I would create a new formula that already came with SPF!
As always, thanks for reading!
