Yes, I’m talking eyelash extensions! I was hesitant at first about getting them but my sweet husband set up an appointment for me for Mother’s Day (😍) because he’s the best. Lol.
Where I Went
I went to Luxe Lashes in Richmond, Virginia. The atmosphere was calming and I almost fell asleep while getting them done! Everyone who worked there was so friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend if you’re ever in the area!
What kind of lashes I got
There’s a couple of options at the Luxe Lashes studio and pretty much the same anywhere you go. You can either get classic lashes or volume. With classic you can either get 60, 80, or 100 lashes applied to each eye. With volume, they use the “Russian technique” which is what I ended up going with. I originally received the classic lash and had 80 lashes applied. I found this wasn’t enough for my eye shape and wanted more volume, hence the name! Haha.
First Impressions So Far
I’m definitely loving the volume. I feel like they add a lot more to my eyes and I find I don’t need to wear as much eye makeup if any at all.
They give you a little eyelash brush that you will use to comb your eyelashes with. I usually do this every morning and night. You also can’t get your lashes wet for up to 24 hours after getting them done. I actually try and not get them directly wet anyways. When I wash my face I use a washcloth. And when I shower I just try and avoid getting my face directly with water. Lash studios recommend you come in and get a lash refill every 2-3 weeks. After that time, they will charge you for a full lash set again and not at the refill rate.
Everyone knows lash extensions are pricey. If you’re willing to pay, make sure you do your research and find a reputable place with good reviews. From what I’ve found they can cost anywhere from $120-$300. This is the first time cost. After that, the refills are less expensive. You have to make sure you get your refills on time though because like I said earlier they’ll charge you for the full set.
I can’t speak for any long term effects they may have but I did my research beforehand and have read many personal stories. It seems they don’t have long term damaging effects based on what I have read. I guess we shall see!
I hope this gives you guys a good idea before you try them out! I 100% think they’re worth it especially for an event, the summer, or just for fun.
As always, thanks for reading along!
